3 Tips when Using Gypsum Board

Gypsum board can come in useful for a range of different building projects, enabling you to create a solid surface for a wall. By putting some tips in place during the process of installing it, you can ensure that it is done correctly.

1 – Framing

When using gypsum board, it is important to properly prepare the base for it. This base is the frame on which the board will be fitted, which will ensure that the joints are clean and level and can be made from wood or metal. To be certain that the end result is effective as it should be, it is necessary to install this within building codes for the area and the property.

2 – Fasteners

Nails can be used to install gypsum board, but some may find that these work themselves out of the recess over time. An easier way to secure the boards are with screws, which can have fine or coarse threads and can be fitted with a screw gun.

3 – Hanging

In order to hang the gypsum board correctly, you must start by measuring it correctly to ensure it is cut to the right size. Be sure to take into account any obstructions like electrical points. Start from the inside corner and gradually work your way out when fitting the screws.
